Standpoint on the side of drug-free living
Many people think that as they and their environment don’t take drugs the drug problem doesn’t concern them because drugs are only the problem of „some separated people who fell on the outskirts”.
It can be seen easily that this is not so. We live in a society, in other words with people depending on each other, where for example our children are exposed to the temptation in schools every day. We never know on which corner someone wants to sell drugs to them because it is sad but still a fact that there are many people among us who live off dealing with drugs. We can meet drivers on the streets who are under the effects of drugs, and we also must protect our properties from those who can’t control their acts as they are on drugs.
If the drugproblem is present in Hungary then it affects all Hungarians and to stop it is the job of all of us.
Is it enough if only some comitted people work on repressing the spreading of drugs, officially or within civil organizations, to create a drug-free Hungary?
If they are only a few, it is not enough.
So everyone must become drugexpert and must devote thier life to it?
Probably it is not the proper solution as everyone has their own responsibilities and tasks in society, therefore it cannot be expected from anybody to drop their job and career to go arround the country and hold lectures.
Fortunately you don’t have to do such things in order to change the drug situation. You don’t have to be expert nor hold lectures, distribute enlightment booklets on drugs or to organize events against drugs.
But it is very much needed and can be expected from everyone to think responsible for the sake of himself and his environment regarding drugs and to take a standpoint in public against drugs.
Sometimes it doesn’t mean more then just join with your signature to the group of those who want to live in a drug-free country.
Collecting signatures during the Marathon
During the Marathon wherever we have a possibility, the entire team goes around with clipboards on the streets and squares of the settlements, where there is bigger traffic and gets in touch with the people. We brief them about the Marathon and why do we run, then we give a documentary and if they demand also a drug information booklet. We ask them to sign the paper sheet that says „I hereby join a drug-free Hungary”.
In the settlements where the Maraton is welcomed with a program, we also stand up a large flip-chart where people can also join to that ’Drug-free Hungary’.
Results
So far more than 22000 people have signed the ’I hereby join a drug-free Hungary’ notice.
